Non solo Jazz - 25th Season of concerts

 

Dear friend of Catania Jazz, we could finally unveil you the program of our new season of concerts, the 25th the founding of the Association way back in the distant year of 1983.


In order to celebrate this anniversary in grand style, a number of the most highly acclaimed musicians in the world have been invited, some of whom will be performing exclusively in Italy for the association.


The season opens on the 7th November with the exhibition of a totally Italian talent: the pianist Stefano Bollani; on 21st November Michel Camilo arrives in Catania for an exclusive performance, followed by the illustrious guitarist Paco de Lucia on 17th December: his only concert in Italy.


On 13th February, the eve of Saint Valentine's Day, it's the turn of Sarah Jane Morris with the first and only exhibition in Italy of her new show. On 2nd April there will be a performance by the pianist Ahmad Jamal, a living legend of jazz, followed by the volcanic Kocani Orchestra on 18th April with the participation of two great Italian jazz players: Paolo Fresu and Antonello Salis.


On the 23rd April the Galician Carlos Nunez, the “Jimi Hendrix of the bagpipes”, accompanied by the Symphonic Orchestra of Magna Grecia, will perform in a show produced by Catania Jazz in collaboration with the ICO Magna Grecia of Taranto.


The season will be brought to a close on the 22nd May by one of the greatest composers of our time, Michael Nyman, together with his band.


All the concerts will take place in the Metropolitan theatre in Catania.

 

The subscription to all the 10 concerts costs 105 euro (agency rights included), while the students of the University of Catania could have it at half price.
