Dear friends,
let us introduce our 2008 Summer season, named "Le macchine sonore" (musical machines) during which 3 super groups will perform live from 24th to 26 July on the stage of the marvellous Amphiteatre of Tremestieri Etneo, just few kilometers far from Catania (clic here for the map).
On July 24th Stefano Bollani will open our season with his new band, named "Carioca": he will be on stage with Brasilian and Italian artists to perform his original arrangements of the less know classics of Brasilian music.
On July 25th will perform an artist that doesn't need so much presentations: Goran Bregovic will come back in Catania after many years with his "musical machine": the "Wedding and funeral band", that help him bringing Balcan music everywhere in the world.
On July 26th will close the season the biggest, the most cosmopolitan and colourfoul band of the programme: the "Piazza Vittorio Orchestra", an Italian project that put together in an unique mix 11 players coming from many different countries of the world.
The season ticket costs 38,50 euros (33 euros for who has the pass for our last season: "Non Solo Jazz").
The concerts of July 24th (Bollani) and 26th (Piazza Vittorio Orchestra) cost 16,50, while Bregovic's concert costs 22 euros (agency fee included).
You could buy tickets and season passes at BoxOffice Catania, nelle prevendite autorizzate in tutta la Sicilia, online on www.boxol.it or at the entrance of the Amphitheatre before the beginning of the concerts.

Dear friend of Catania Jazz, we could finally unveil you the program of our new season of concerts, the 25th the founding of the Association way back in the distant year of 1983.
In order to celebrate this anniversary in grand style, a number of the most highly acclaimed musicians in the world have been invited, some of whom will be performing exclusively in Italy for the association.
The season opens on the 7th November with the exhibition of a totally Italian talent: the pianist Stefano Bollani; on 21st November Michel Camilo arrives in Catania for an exclusive performance, followed by the illustrious guitarist Paco de Lucia on 17th December: his only concert in Italy.
On 13th February, the eve of Saint Valentine's Day, it's the turn of Sarah Jane Morris with the first and only exhibition in Italy of her new show. On 2nd April there will be a performance by the pianist Ahmad Jamal, a living legend of jazz, followed by the volcanic Kocani Orchestra on 18th April with the participation of two great Italian jazz players: Paolo Fresu and Antonello Salis.
On the 23rd April the Galician Carlos Nunez, the ??Jimi Hendrix of the bagpipes?, accompanied by the Symphonic Orchestra of Magna Grecia, will perform in a show produced by Catania Jazz in collaboration with the ICO Magna Grecia of Taranto.
The season will be brought to a close on the 22nd May by one of the greatest composers of our time, Michael Nyman, together with his band.
All the concerts will take place in the Metropolitan theatre in Catania.
The season pass for all the 10 concerts costs 105 euro (agency rights included), while the students of the University of Catania could have it at half price.
